I had requested a haircut and clean shave for my 81-year-old father, who is bedridden. He uses a mechanised cot that can assist him in sitting upright, and I was present throughout the service to help the professional as needed. While I understand that providing a haircut and shave in such an unusual setting may be more challenging than working in a salon, the professional was fussy and even suggested that I should find a specialist barber who provides services in hospitals. The work itself was done well, and I have no complaints regarding the haircut or shave. However, what was disappointing was the lack of compassion, patience and kindness shown towards an elderly, bedridden customer. We regularly use Urban Company for my father’s haircuts and shaving, and our previous experiences with other professionals have been very positive. They have always been patient, understanding and compassionate. I am giving 3/5 solely because the actual service was done well. However, I hope Urban Company places greater emphasis on empathy and kindness, particularly when professionals are serving elderly or differently situated customers.
