No, that is one of the most common myths in water purification. TDS only measures the total dissolved solids in water; it cannot identify what those solids are. Bacteria, viruses, pesticides, and many harmful chemicals do not show up on a TDS meter. Consequently, water with a low TDS reading can still be unsafe, while water with a slightly higher TDS can be perfectly healthy, as it contains beneficial minerals like calcium and magnesium.
