So, let me share a brief about my rating here as I just want to post a genuine review. I book for basic make up package, when professional arrived at my place considering the skin condition she suggested me to go for HD makeup package.. which I refused.. considering I am on healthier side I got to know that contouring is not invited in my package which I needed so I asked professional that she can go ahead for contouring and what ever is the reason extra amount I will pay for it. She did my makeup where I found below things were missing - 1. No proper skin preparation 2. After 30 minutes of makeup there were patches at my chin which can be easily identified ( mentioning I was in AC whole time) 3. The face was looking patchy, I can share pictures also. There were 2-3 things which we discussed as I want to go for curls which she mentioned are not included in the package, which I am fine with. I asked her to help me with my duppatta which she also refused as this is not part of package, can someone shows me any specific service which offers for duppta draping in Urban clap, mentioning I was not looking for Saree draping it was a simple dupatta draping.( It was a gown dupatta) Which I can also ignore. This is the first time where I got to know that basic package will not cover my makeup to ruin if I have sweat... Otherwise I have to go for a premium package. What I felt- 1. Major focus was how I can get the package updated. 2. She was just trying to get the work done without even understanding the customer skin. 3. In hair styling also she just went to the basic and easy one- straightening. Before this also I took service from other professionals and never faced this kind of issues. Special mention - My rating is not based on what she denies it's purely based on her service only.

Literally this time I am short of words, everything was perfect be it makeup, hair styling, saree draping everything was top notch... I was not able to recognise myself after the makeup, Shilpa is very professional, knows what clients want, before starting my makeup she asked me what kind of look I am looking for and she exceeded my expectations.. I was wearing a saree for the first time so was scared if I were able to carry it or not but she draped my saree perfectly so I was able to carry it till late. all makeup products were local. they were in very dirty condition. urban company charged too much saying that products are going to be branded. overall makeup was also not good. never going to repeat this mistake of booking mua through urban company. stop lying that your mua will use branded products. worst experience eve

How to Prepare Before I Get My Makeup Done

Keep your face moisturised as it helps the makeup to go on smoothly and primes the face so that the makeup doesn’t look cakey (dry skin equals flaking makeup)

Do NOT get a facial done in the 1-2 days before your makeup session as one should not get makeup done immediately after that.

If you have a favourite lipstick or any other makeup product you love, carry it along so that the MUA can use it on you.

Find photos of makeup and hairstyles you like for reference - to share with your party MUA so that they can easily understand your preferences. However, do trust them to know what style will suit your skin type and face shape as well, plus complement your outfit.

Find a button down shirt or top to wear (and put your blouse on beforehand) so that you don’t ruin your makeup and hair when you’re changing.

You should also prepare a mini touch-up kit with pins, blotting paper, lipstick, moisturiser, foundation and concealer to touch-up at the venue if you need to.

If you’re having your saree or dupatta draped, do find reference photos of the draping style you want as well.

If you’re getting ready at the venue, ensure your packed your outfit, jewellery, footwear and button down shirt before you leave the house.

How to get the most out of your Party Makeup Artist Booking

Feel free to tell your MUA what you don’t want. For example, you may not want eyelash extensions or a dramatic winged liner - just tell the artist it’s not something you like. She will respect your wishes.

If the makeup does not meet your expectations, go ahead and ask the makeup artist to either tone it down or make it bolder.

While the makeup artist is getting you ready, feel free to share any worries you might have. Don’t wait till everything is done and then say what you wanted because it’s easier for the MUA to change or fix something as she goes. You most likely will not have time to get it redone later.

Ensure the base matches your skin tone.

Check that the colour of your face, neck and back are the same. If not, remind the MUA to apply foundation on all exposed skin.

Talk about your preferences with your makeup artist - show her photographs of what you like.

Click a photo and check how the makeup is looking on camera - in both natural and artificial lighting.

Finally, you can ensure your kajal stays on for longer by using a cotton bud to dry your waterline before applying kajal. And ensure primer is applied on your face and over the eyelids before the makeup goes on to help it last longer.

Check for dry patches where the makeup is flaking. If there are any, ask the MUA to gently dab moisturiser on the area and correct it.

Check if blemishes, acne marks and pimples are covered to your satisfaction. However, do understand that it’s not possible to completely cover them without making it look unnatural.

What to check for in Hairstyle & Sari Draping

Check if your hairstyle is holding up well and in place - move your head around to check it’s not opening up

For sari draping, do the same thing and move around to check that the pleats don’t open and that it’s easy to sit and stand without opening up the sari.

For your hairstyle, it’s important to take note of your comfort level. If a pin is tugging and uncomfortable, tell your hairstylist so that they can move the pins around.
