Extremely disappointing experience — please be careful before accepting the diagnosis I booked an Urban Company service appointment today because my laptop display had gone completely black. The laptop was powering on and the keyboard lights were coming up, but there was no display. The technician checked the laptop, but honestly, the diagnosis felt more like a formality than a proper troubleshooting exercise. Almost immediately, I was given a quotation of approximately ₹5,000, with the issue being attributed to the motherboard. Fortunately, I did not agree to submit my laptop for repair based on that diagnosis. Here is the concerning part: 4–5 hours later, I tried switching the laptop on again, and it is working perfectly fine. This raises a very serious question — how was a motherboard issue diagnosed so quickly and confidently when the laptop subsequently started working without any repair? As a customer, I expect a technician to properly troubleshoot, verify the root cause, explain the issue, and then recommend a repair — not arrive at a costly diagnosis almost immediately. It genuinely felt like the focus was on getting a repair/quote generated rather than actually resolving the customer’s problem. And what happens if a customer doesn’t have ₹5,000 readily available and accepts the diagnosis out of desperation because their laptop is critical for work? Thankfully, I questioned the diagnosis and did not hand over my laptop. Urban Company needs to seriously look into the quality and methodology of such service visits. Customers should not have to be technically knowledgeable enough to question a technician’s diagnosis to avoid unnecessary expenses. My experience was extremely disappointing. I would strongly recommend exercising caution and getting a second opinion before approving an expensive repair based solely on such a diagnosis. DO NOT TRUST THE DIAGNOSIS BLINDLY. GET A SECOND OPINION.
