You’ve seen plenty of best-dressed celeb lists for Sonam Kapoor – Anand Ahuja’s big fat Indian wedding. But if you’re a bride-to-be, you might have noticed that there was PLENTY of bridal fashion inspiration to take from what these celebrities wore! After all, they’re wearing designer labels from Sabyasachi to Manish Malhotra, the same designers’ brides wear to their very own wedding functions!
Here’s our round-up of which outfit you can wear to your wedding events:
Alia Bhatt in Sabyasachi
Yes, you probably won’t pick Sabyasachi for your Mehendi, but the neon shade and light-weight embroidery makes it perfect for a smaller wedding function.
This is from Sabyasachi’s Spring Summer 2018 collection.
Karisma Kapoor in Sabyasachi
Yet another piece from the same Sabyasachi collection, this floral lehenga was styled perfectly by the actress – a statement choker and the right-sized maang tikka. It doesn’t need any more accessorizing. In fact, her entire look is so perfect (the makeup, accessories, hairstyle, outfit and draping) that you can copy it exactly as it is for your Mehendi (or even Sangeet) ceremony!
Masaba Gupta in her own label
If you’re looking for something simpler and lighter (on your pocket as well!) this Masaba Gupta lehenga with that bright pop of pink for a blouse is a great choice! A bride could accessorize with a head accessory (matha patti or maang tikka) and hand jewellery to make it more “bridal”.
Don’t think twice about wearing white to your Mehendi/Sangeet ceremony. Bride Sonam Kapoor has made it amply clear that it’s a good idea! Whether you like it or not, Indian brides in whites on their main wedding events is a trend that just keeps on getting bigger every year.
Rhea Kapoor in Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla
Even more white options for brides! Sneakers are optional 🙂
Shilpa Shetty Kundra in Sukriti & Aakriti
And one last white recommendation for the bride to wear to her Mehendi. This one’s a sharara that has a nice touch of colour through the threadwork, and that dupatta with gold polka dots? The perfect addition!
Heavily embroidered ivory lehenga (Karisma Kapoor in Manish Malhotra)
If you’re going to stand out on your Sangeet in white, you might as well pick this! The embroidery on this lehenga is decadently beautiful.
Pernia Qureshi in Faraz Manan
While the exact colour of this outfit is hard to make out (looks rose pink in one photo, pale lavender in another), there’s one thing you can’t deny – it’s GORGEOUS. Designed by Pakistan-based Faraz Manan, it’s a piece that’s already on bridal lust lists everywhere. You can’t go wrong with this on any occasion, honestly, but it suits a Cocktail evening best.
Jahnvi Kapoor in Manish Malhotra
Another option for a bride who wants to give off princess vibes in a sparkling pastel blue lehenga!
Arpita Mehta in her own Label
This is a colour most people associate with a cocktail event, and this piece is a great option for a fuss-free bride! You should, of course, add accessories to make it look more “bridal”.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Manish Malhotra
It’s a simple Anarkali, that gets its bridal flavour from the heavy silver embroidery. Just drape a dupatta over one shoulder like Mrs. Bachchan, and you’re set to get engaged!
Kareena Kapoor Khan in Anita Dongre
This is such pretty pastel for your engagement. Add more jewellery and you’re set as a bride!
Shanaya Kapoor in Tarun Tahiliani
Beautiful hairstyle for a wedding function (soft waves & baby’s breath in a floral half crown), star motifs embroidered all over the lehenga and a bright pout – everything about this look is steal-worthy for a bride! It’s not a typical loud style statement. It’s a subtle one, but it’s a style statement nevertheless.
Jacqueline Fernandez in Anita Dongre
While Jacqueline Fernandez wore this Anita Dongre lehenga to Sonam’s Wedding Day, the heavily embroidered pink lehenga is also perfect for a bride to wear to her wedding ceremony! It’s incredibly gorgeous, and for a bride who loves a bright pink lehenga, this is a great option.
Jahnvi Kapoor wore this killer multi-coloured lehenga by Manish Malhotra, that’s perfect for the bride who is having a day wedding. The hint of pastels combined with pops of candy colours makes it a unique and lust-worthy pick!
White Lehenga with Dramatic Cape Sleeves (Isabelle Kaif in Manish Malhotra)
Katrina Kaif’s sister wore this beautiful white lehenga that a bride with a modern taste in fashion would love. You have, of course, the option of going more modest with the blouse neckline, and adding diamond or contrasting emerald or blue sapphire jewellery to complete the look. We’re a big fan of the hairstyle, though, so maybe consider a messy ponytail like this as your Reception hairstyle!
Seema S Chenam in Shantanu & Nikhil
This was one of the most gorgeous, sober lehengas we spotted at Sonam Kapoor’s wedding. If pastel blue is a favourite colour of yours, we highly recommend this lehenga for your Reception evening!
We can’t wrap up this post without sharing some amazing Wedding Guest Style we spotted at Sonam’s Wedding!
Swara Bhasker in White & Beige Manish Malhotra Lehenga
Loved her makeup, colourful earrings and French manicure to go with the white lehenga!
Swara Bhaskar in Black & Gold Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla Lehenga
Jacqueline Fernandez in White & Grey Anamika Khanna Lehenga
Tahira Kashyap in a one-shoulder sparkling blouse & lehenga
Mira Rajput Kapoor in an Anamika Khanna pant-sari
Akanksha Arora in a white Shantanu Nikhil layered & pleated unique Anarkali
Karisma Kapoor in White Manish Malhotra Sari with Tassel Borders
Masaba Gupta in Mint & Neon Pink Sari from her own label
Kareena Kapoor Khan in a Sparkling Gold Sari by Manish Malhotra
Jacqueline Fernandez in a white lace & pearl sari with strapless blouse design by Manish Malhotra
Pooja Dhingra (Le15 Patisserie Chef) in a White & Gold Masaba Gupta Suit
Loved her makeup (bright pout to go with white outfit) and floral maang tika!
Arpita Mehta in a pale blue sharara (in her own Label)
Shanaya Kapoor in a simple pink sharara with pom-poms and gold glitter border
Juhi Chawla in a Pastel Pink & Silver Sharara Set by Sabyasachi
Twinkle Khanna in a White Embroidered Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla Suit Paired With Contrasting Green Accessories
