I asked for installation of customised shelves. The design of the shelves was provided by me. The carpenter in service agreed to it. As I have recently moved into a new space there is a lot of work to be done. I asked the carpenter to consult me on installation of a table. I had booked a carpenter for consultation. No specific service was expressed at the time of the booking. The carpenter told me that he would install the table as well. For the process of installation I was informed that I would need to buy the stone top by myself. The carpenter suggested the he, himself would procure the part but at that time my father suggested that he knew of a specific market that specialises in stones and marbles. He offered that he would buy the table top with me at a later date. At this the carpenter advised that we get a farma( frame) made for the table. This he would make out of ply wood. He told me that he would make the farma (frame) when he would come over with the sample of the shelf. He had informed me that the shelves installation would amount to a total of ₹15000. Out of the total he had taken out an advance of ₹5000. Over head of this would be the cost of the installation of the table. For making the frame sample of the table the carpenter asked for ₹800. The ply for making the sample was provided by us. The rate for the job was specified in advance by the carpenter. The day came when the carpenter came over to approve the sample of the shelf. On that day the carpenter brought with him another partner. This partner would then carve the frame sample for the table that we were to install at a later date. The ply for carving this sample was provided by us. The carpenter carved the sample and handed it over to us. All of these events were happening in the evening. After taking the frame sample we were in a rush and we left. The carpenter then called us asking for the money. The carving of the table frame sample did not take more than 10 minutes. At the time of payment I was in the car with my father. My father decided to take the matter in his own hand. He told the carpenter that we were being charged an exuberant price for the outperforming of a simple task. At this, the carpenter also lost his cool. He started saying things of the nature that he does not require our work, if the rate seems exuberant then we should hire some other professional, and he had specified the rate of the job in advance. The carpenter expressed his opinion as if we were thieving from him. My father had used the term ‘loot’ to express the exuberance that he felt about the price offered. I interjected this heated discussion with the statement that upon completion the carpenter would be paid his due diligence. Also I asked him to drop the matter of the table altogether. I asked him to install the shelf as asked. I would like to take this space to express that the behaviour provided by the professional was beyond shameful. Someone had booked a professional, they are expecting to be helped out in as many areas as possible. Whatever is the remittance due for the help shall be provided for. I urge you to look at the fact that there is not only one job or service at play here. There were multiple places where we needed assistance. These multiple assists would have culminated to a good amount. Over the entire bulk order of services if we as an end user are seeking a discount, I don’t think that that is an ask too eccentric. The urgency that the professional expressed for a payment of ₹800, after having comfortably being paid an advance of ₹5000, with a due of ₹10000, was appalling. I have been a regular user of the app but never had I experienced such a behaviour. To indulge in a heated discussion over ₹800 when ₹15000 are at play seemed quite infantile. I do not have any complaints about the shelf installed, but partner behaviour, and customer experience is an equally important part of the service that we are paying for. Despite the intricate work, as far as customer satisfaction goes, I would rate the professional as a zero.
