Professional tried cancelling since she had fever. No support from Urban company. Impossible to reach. Only bots available. Service was not good, make up was not great and no support for hairstyle at all. For 1st event professional was so late that i did my hair and base makeup and she only did eyes, lips and basic saree. For 2nd look she again didnt do hair, hair was all messed up and she didn’t fix. O told her multiple times i want light makeup but made my face look cakey, saree wa not drapped well and when i said i want her to redo the pallu cause it’s not sitting right, she got irritated and refused to do it saying saree is bad but it’s a pure silk saree with no border so pretty light that way. My hair look messy in all my pictures. Disappointment as i paid more than 5k to one person. Also the makeup brushes looked dirty and i had to ask her repeatedly to sanitizer her hand.

Very poor eye make up. I still gave her Rs 72 tip. Her fingers skin was very rough and dry. Very poor consulating skills. She was literally begging to not cancel the booking and was not leaving my hotel room and sat on chair when I repeated requested her to please leave as I don’t want her to spoil my face with wrong make up. Then she promised she will do make up properly but still failed badly with eye make. My eyes were too small and under eye was looking more deep with make up than the actual one. I called customer services twice but they listened to the issue and disconnected the phone on me. I’m never going to use urban company for make up or May be for other services. Very rude behavior by customer services as well the make up artist. They need to hire more better professionals.

How to Prepare Before I Get My Makeup Done

If you have a favourite lipstick or any other makeup product you love, carry it along so that the MUA can use it on you.

You should also prepare a mini touch-up kit with pins, blotting paper, lipstick, moisturiser, foundation and concealer to touch-up at the venue if you need to.

Do NOT get a facial done in the 1-2 days before your makeup session as one should not get makeup done immediately after that.

Keep your face moisturised as it helps the makeup to go on smoothly and primes the face so that the makeup doesn’t look cakey (dry skin equals flaking makeup)

Find a button down shirt or top to wear (and put your blouse on beforehand) so that you don’t ruin your makeup and hair when you’re changing.

If you’re having your saree or dupatta draped, do find reference photos of the draping style you want as well.

If you’re getting ready at the venue, ensure your packed your outfit, jewellery, footwear and button down shirt before you leave the house.

Find photos of makeup and hairstyles you like for reference - to share with your party MUA so that they can easily understand your preferences. However, do trust them to know what style will suit your skin type and face shape as well, plus complement your outfit.

How to get the most out of your Party Makeup Artist Booking

Check if blemishes, acne marks and pimples are covered to your satisfaction. However, do understand that it’s not possible to completely cover them without making it look unnatural.

Click a photo and check how the makeup is looking on camera - in both natural and artificial lighting.

Ensure the base matches your skin tone.

While the makeup artist is getting you ready, feel free to share any worries you might have. Don’t wait till everything is done and then say what you wanted because it’s easier for the MUA to change or fix something as she goes. You most likely will not have time to get it redone later.

If the makeup does not meet your expectations, go ahead and ask the makeup artist to either tone it down or make it bolder.

Check that the colour of your face, neck and back are the same. If not, remind the MUA to apply foundation on all exposed skin.

Check for dry patches where the makeup is flaking. If there are any, ask the MUA to gently dab moisturiser on the area and correct it.

Check if your hairstyle is holding up well and in place - move your head around to check it’s not opening up

For your hairstyle, it’s important to take note of your comfort level. If a pin is tugging and uncomfortable, tell your hairstylist so that they can move the pins around.

For sari draping, do the same thing and move around to check that the pleats don’t open and that it’s easy to sit and stand without opening up the sari.
