I took Shakuntala’s service for my evening, basic hair style and makeup. Initially everything was okay. She was polite but Problem started when she ruined my eye makeup. I asked her to do wing eyeliner, for reference showed the picture as well but she couldn’t do it, when I asked her to fix it she started giving all excuses like this look is fine, no need to change etc.etc. When I insist her to fix it she did but as a result my left eye and right eye liner shape was different, I asked her to again please match the shape but she was unable to match the right eye liner shape. When my maid told me mam your right eye liner is not good I told again her to fix it. But she was stubborn and not ready to fix it. Also she told my maid why did she tell me that the right eyeliner shape is not good. Her behaviour was not good, when asked her to fix it, she literally showed her irritation on me. Also she curled my hair which didn’t ever stayed for 30 minutes. Because she didn’t spray the hair fixer properly. Very disappointing service

The consultation wasn’t at all even after asking multiple times. She wasn’t able to suggest anything because of the communication barrier. Hurried the service while draping saree. The drape was very poor and was in hurray to go off. She Doesn’t want to invest time in hair. After asking only she did the hair spray before going. Was very in using her saree pins Though I have used mine. She really ruined my day by not draping the saree properly. And lip liner was missing. Very very bad experience. Didn’t expect this type from urban company. Please stop sending untrained makeup artist by saying professional where they doesn’t know anything. She didnt wait for me to look the drapee she did. How to Prepare Before I Get My Makeup Done

You should also prepare a mini touch-up kit with pins, blotting paper, lipstick, moisturiser, foundation and concealer to touch-up at the venue if you need to.

If you have a favourite lipstick or any other makeup product you love, carry it along so that the MUA can use it on you.

If you’re having your saree or dupatta draped, do find reference photos of the draping style you want as well.

Find photos of makeup and hairstyles you like for reference - to share with your party MUA so that they can easily understand your preferences. However, do trust them to know what style will suit your skin type and face shape as well, plus complement your outfit.

If you’re getting ready at the venue, ensure your packed your outfit, jewellery, footwear and button down shirt before you leave the house.

Keep your face moisturised as it helps the makeup to go on smoothly and primes the face so that the makeup doesn’t look cakey (dry skin equals flaking makeup)

Do NOT get a facial done in the 1-2 days before your makeup session as one should not get makeup done immediately after that.

Find a button down shirt or top to wear (and put your blouse on beforehand) so that you don’t ruin your makeup and hair when you’re changing.

How to get the most out of your Party Makeup Artist Booking

While the makeup artist is getting you ready, feel free to share any worries you might have. Don’t wait till everything is done and then say what you wanted because it’s easier for the MUA to change or fix something as she goes. You most likely will not have time to get it redone later.

Check if blemishes, acne marks and pimples are covered to your satisfaction. However, do understand that it’s not possible to completely cover them without making it look unnatural.

Talk about your preferences with your makeup artist - show her photographs of what you like.

Click a photo and check how the makeup is looking on camera - in both natural and artificial lighting.

Ensure the base matches your skin tone.

Check for dry patches where the makeup is flaking. If there are any, ask the MUA to gently dab moisturiser on the area and correct it.

Finally, you can ensure your kajal stays on for longer by using a cotton bud to dry your waterline before applying kajal. And ensure primer is applied on your face and over the eyelids before the makeup goes on to help it last longer.

If the makeup does not meet your expectations, go ahead and ask the makeup artist to either tone it down or make it bolder.

Check that the colour of your face, neck and back are the same. If not, remind the MUA to apply foundation on all exposed skin.

Feel free to tell your MUA what you don’t want. For example, you may not want eyelash extensions or a dramatic winged liner - just tell the artist it’s not something you like. She will respect your wishes.

What to check for in Hairstyle & Sari Draping

Check if your hairstyle is holding up well and in place - move your head around to check it’s not opening up

For your hairstyle, it’s important to take note of your comfort level. If a pin is tugging and uncomfortable, tell your hairstylist so that they can move the pins around.

For sari draping, do the same thing and move around to check that the pleats don’t open and that it’s easy to sit and stand without opening up the sari.
