When do I need a TV repair?

Writing Very Disappointing Service Experience with Urban Company Today I called an Urban Company technician for my Panasonic TV, which had a display-related problem. He opened the TV, checked it and said the issue would need to be diagnosed at a workshop. Interestingly, after I suggested changing/checking the motherboard circuit, the display started working and the problem was eventually resolved. The technician himself was unable to identify the actual fault. Despite this, he raised an additional invoice of around ₹350 under “Motherboard Cleaning”, although he had only cleaned some dust after opening the TV. I had already paid around ₹300 as the inspection/service charge. When I questioned the additional charge, his explanation was simply, “Sir, I came from far, so I raised the invoice.” This is not a fair way of doing business. If an actual repair or replacement is required, I am absolutely willing to pay the appropriate charges. But charging customers for work that was not actually done or for simply visiting from a distance is unacceptable. It also gives the impression that service technicians sometimes assume customers don't understand technical issues and can be charged arbitrarily. Urban Company should look into such practices and ensure transparent, genuine billing. Customers deserve to pay for actual work and services—not made-up charges. Very disappointing experience
