You know you’re in for a treat when the bride herself is a super-talented wedding planner. And that’s exactly how we felt when we first saw the pictures of Aashna and Sheekher’s gorgeous Goa wedding captured wonderfully by The Photo Diary. From the decor to the outfits, everything was personalised to perfection.
We spoke to the bride, Aashna Singh, the founder of Mumbai-based Aash Studio who shared her vision board for her wedding and also gave tips on taking ideas from imagination to execution levels. To brides, we’ll say – learn from the professional and simplify your wedding planning process for you and your partner’s benefit.
How I Planned My Destination Wedding
Aashna followed the listing process, which has till date helped every bride create her basic wedding plan. As Aashna explains, “In the entire process of planning my wedding, I made close to about 100 checklists. Everyday I would make a new list, add a new idea or a task to my list and tear the older checklist.” We understand the feeling because frankly, you can never have too many lists. Noting everything down helps filter out random thoughts from actually executable ideas and gives a sense of finality to all that you’re planning. Create and share lists on decor, food, guest list and venues with relevant members of your wedding squad and check off one task after the other.

The most striking feature of this wedding has to be the decor and that’s because Aashna had a clear vision of every wedding event. “Every function had a theme to it and every part of it was customized according to Sheekher and my likes!
HALDI
MEHENDI
“Our mehendi décor was colourful and bright. We wanted to give our wedding an identity and hence, looked into every detail. We even customized the stickers on the bottles!”

Aashna’s mehndi was a colourful affair and she stood out with her cream floral lehenga. She told us, “I’m someone who loves colour so initially, I was also considering a hot pink or a lime green outfit. But then our decor was so colour heavy that I changed my mind. We still spent a lot of time finalising the flowers, the beads, shaded everything and the end result was perfect for the light event.
SANGEET
In terms of decor, the sangeet has to be our favourite event, thanks to all the disco balls and the lights. Aashna explains, “I came across a disco ball during a recce trip to Goa, which led to the idea of an entire roof of disco balls. We sourced samples from different factories before finally purchasing over 200 disco balls for the event. The lighting was important too because we had to create that party vibe and in the end, everyone loved it!”
WEDDING & RECEPTION
What’s not to love about Aashna & Sheekher’s wedding? From her natural makeup to the red roses overload in the decor that matches her red wedding lehenga perfectly, from the groom’s ivory asymmetrical sherwani to that gorgeous sunset serving as the perfect mandap backdrop – everything about this Goa destination wedding by the beach is giving us #WeddingGoals!

Looking back at the pictures now, Aashna feels glad for planning in advance and for taking breaks when the work got too much to handle. She shares, “Start with booking things and professionals you will definitely need. I started with booking my hair and makeup artist, my photographers while simultaneously figuring out our venue with our families. You need six to eight months to plan everything smoothly so make sure you start early. And most importantly, listen to your instinct on every important decision. From clothes to decor, if you don’t like something on the first go, chances are you’ll always be unsure about it. No point following something just because it’s trending on Instagram.”
We agree completely! Aashna’s no-rule wedding ended up giving us major #WeddingInspo and won Instagram without ever intending to do that. Follow our Instagram handle for more pictures from this gorgeous wedding and those from many others!
