Brides – meet the new favourites!
There’s nothing we love more than a bride who loves to experiment. She knows all the “wedding rules” (red lehenga for the wedding, hair up in a bun) but the cool new bride of 2018 will ditch these expectations to create her own fabulous wedding!
Step one: give your wedding colour palate a surprising makeover. In 2017, the Indian bridal lehenga market exploded with colours we’d only seen in the movies. Royal reds made way for blushy lavenders, classy golds and unusual blues and greens. For 2018, we’re wishing for this trend to grow and for new colours to take over our Instagram feeds and Pinterest boards. Bookmark this list of the hottest new colours that will be big in 2018 and add them to your wedding inspiration boards today!
1 Lavender

Popular designers like Shantanu and Nikhil and Anushree Rgautaeddy surprised the wedding market with their gorgeous lavender lehengas and we can’t wait for this shade to pick up. Lavender adds a touch of freshness to every frame and works from day to night events instantly.
2 Dull pink

Different designers call this shade by different names but the end product is equally stunning. Pastels are thankfully here to stay and this shade of pink is the perfect wedding day outfit for the pastel loving bride. Classy and understated, this outfit is a sure shot hit.
3 Sage Green

This unexpected shade has taken Pinterest by storm and now found love in Indian bridal lehenga space too. You can opt for a toned down version with a mix of embroidery and gota work or go all out like this gorgeous Sabyasachi lehenga. Either way, this colour is a breath of fresh air in among the reds and will instantly help you stand out.
4 Light blue

This one’s a destination wedding favourite and we can totally see why. A stunning light blue lehenga at a stunning sea-side wedding sounds nothing short of perfect. Balanced with different shades of gold, a light blue lehenga is perfect for a day wedding ceremony for the minimalist bride.
5 White

If you’ve grown up obsessing over stunning white wedding gowns then you’ll be happy to know that white wedding lehengas are now a legitimate fashion trend. Designers and retailers have now added different kinds of white lehengas to their bridal lines. You can add a pop of colour by opting for prints on white or keep things elegant with an embroidered piece.
6 Rose Gold

There are rose gold phones, rose gold watches and now rose gold lehengas too. (Take a minute to thank the one and only, Sabyasachi for making this shade happen) Rose gold lehengas are both glamorous and elegant, which means you have one outfit that works for your bridal duties, your pheras, and then your fun reception party.
7 Orange

Anita Dongre’s collection is full of orange gota patti lehengas
We’ve seen oranges at mehendis and rokas, which is why we’re so ready for orange bridal lehengas. Orange will keep the moms happy while still giving you a statement bridal look. Fans of traditional gota patti work should definitely consider this shade. Add a kitsch touch by pairing the orange with a royal shade of violet, which brings us to our next favourite shade.

The Pantone colour of the year has already found its way into the Indian bridal market and we couldn’t be more excited. For the longest time, brides have restricted this colour to be an engagement/ sangeet look but we see that changing this year. Watch this space to read more on this gorgeous shade and how you can add it to the colour scheme of your dream wedding.
Will you pick any of these colours for your wedding lehenga?
