Let’s Serve Chennai Together

Over the past few days, we’ve seen Chennai suffering in the wake of the floods that paralysed the city. Now the water levels are receding, but there’s still a lot that needs to be done before the city can get back to normal.

We wanted to do our bit for the city, but we figured we can’t do it alone. That’s why we’ve partnered with Opinio and Goonj, so that we can combine our technology with their logistics support and experience to make sure that the right assistance reaches the people who need it the most. But we’ll still need your help.

All you need to do is gather up the supplies you need to donate, place a request in the Chennai Relief category on our app, and one of our partner Opinio pilots will reach you to pick up your contribution.

How You Can Contribute

If you’re in Delhi or Bangalore, open the Urban Company App and click on the Chennai Relief category at any time on Wednesday and Thursday and tell us when we can pick up your contributions on Friday and Saturday, and an Opinio ground pilot will receive the information on his phone and come to your pickup location to accept your contributions for free.

Through our app you will be able to request a vehicle to come to your pick up location, collect your contribution and deposit it safely to the Goonj collection points.  Go ahead, make a contribution. We’ll make it count.

How It Works

• Between Wednesday, December 9th, to Saturday, December 12th, open up your Urban Company app at any time
• Don’t have Urban Company? Click here to download the app.
• Select the Chennai Relief category on the app and fill in the details of your contribution
• Our Opinio partner pilot will come to your pickup location to accept your contributions for FREE.
• At the end of the activity, each vehicle will drop off all collected contributions to the Goonj collection points. They’ll make sure it reaches those who need it most.

What You Can Contribute

Here are a few things that are urgently needed:

• Clothes & bedding (blankets, sarees, bedsheets, jeans, woolens)
• Dry ration (rice, pulses, spices, biscuits milk powder, sugar, tea leaves)
• Essential items (sanitary napkins, water purifier tablets, charged power banks, candles, toiletries)
• Utensils
• School supplies
