Getting Back Up When Life Knocked Her Down: Rachna’s Story

This can be said of Rachna Sharma, one of our high-rated salon pros from Delhi. Life knocked her down not once, not twice, but multiple times — but today she’s a trailblazing woman, empowered and accomplished on her own might.

Rachna ran a salon for 4 years after getting married. However, a toxic marriage that comprised of a lot of abuse, led her to give everything up and return to her parents. She tried setting up a salon once again but luck didn’t favour her this time as well and Rachna ended up incurring a debt of Rs. 6 lakh instead.

Not one to get bogged down, she joined Urban Company in 2017 and, through her determination and hardwork, not only paid off all her debts but, along with her sister Gayatri, bought her parents a beautiful home and a Scooty in 2018.

Of course, her family steps in to pull Rachna through tough times. Her father ferries her to a friend’s home from where she heads to clients’ homes by e-rickshaws. He stopped working at a printing press to look after their third daughter, Khushi, who suffers from a rare growth hormone deficiency. The family also comprises of a 16-year-old Pomeranian, Chu Chu, who lifts spirits up when the family needs it the most.

Today, Rachna not only shares a special bond with her repeat clients, but also manages home, her divorce case and her sister Khushi’s medical check-ups.

All this with a lot of khushi on her face.
