Like most startups, when Urban Company started in November 2014, we didn’t have a lot to go on. A handful of employees, a small space, and a shared vision- making life simple by connecting service professionals with their customers.

It’s been over a year since we began our journey, and while we’ve now moved two offices, delivered over a million service experiences, and grown to having 300 people- we still continue to move forward with the same vision that we started out with.

That’s why we thought we’d have a little celebration, and who better to celebrate with than the very partners who joined hands with us to accompany us on our journey?

So, we held the very first edition of the Urban Company Partner Awards Ceremony at our Gurgaon office, where we got together with our partners and team members to acknowledge the true champions of our community!

Here’s What Happened:

A presentation on how to improve conversions:

The event began with a short talk by Abhiraj, Co-founder and CEO of Urban Company. He started out by thanking all our partners for their support. Then it was time to address some of the more interesting questions that partners often ask us.

A common query that we often receive from partners is, “I always respond to leads, but my conversions are very low. How can I improve that?” It turns out that you don’t have to do much to solve that! Our most successful partners all have one thing in common- a great profile! Once you make sure that you have a clear profile picture, a detailed description, and pictures that showcase your past work, you’ll start making conversions in no time at all.

Many partners also believe that it’s hard for the customers to relate to them because they’re viewing their profile on an app. We worked on this problem for a very long time before we realized there’s a very simple way to help clients relate to the partners- adding a video to the profile! Not only do profile videos act as a live version of you, they also help the customer to trust you once they view the video.

And, of course, when we’re speaking of improving conversions, the most important step is to keep engaging with the platform! Often, you might not be receiving relevant leads from us, at first. But, as you start responding to leads (or rejecting them), we start figuring out the kind of leads you’d like to respond to, and make the experience better for you!

The Award Ceremony:

We shortlisted our star professionals primarily based on their engagement with the platform and their connection with the customers. With this, we identified over 40 of our top partners who really stood out. Over the past year, they’ve not just contributed to Urban Company, but have also used the platform to further their business growth!

We were delighted to welcome Tripti and her wonderful family for this event. One of Delhi’s leading dietitians, Tripti has been with us since the early days. Always quick to respond, Tripti made every effort towards partnering with us, whenever we asked. From constantly improving her profile, to replying immediately to each customer, we were humbled by the faith she showed in us at every step. And, we’re delighted to say that it’s paid off! Now, Tripti says, her most serious clients come from Urban Company! Kudos Tripti!

A birthday party planner who has been with us for the last year, Gautam is the owner of Zoop Events, a company that started in North Delhi. Despite this, no project is too big or small for Gautam. His sheer dedication and passion reflects in the glowing reviews he gets from customers, and we’re proud to partner with Gautam on our journey.

Chandni has been among our most inspirational partners. Her support and encouragement has motivated us to keep going and innovate further. Chandni’s professionalism and her sense of initiative never ceases to amaze us, and we’re glad to hear that she’s managed to grow her client base over 3 times with Urban Company!

A Q&A Session To Improve Partners’ Experience:

Since we had the opportunity to bring the Urban Company community together, we were also hoping to know more about our partners’ experience, and what we can do to make Urban Company better for them! That’s why we opened the floor for questions, suggestions, and any other clarifications, and did we learn a lot!

Recently, the Urban Company Partner App also included a feature through which partners could start recharging their credits on the app. However, we learnt that several partners have been facing issues with recharging their credits, and our tech team rose to the challenge and proactively fixed the issues right there!

We’ve also decided to actively start working to resolve some of the other issues that were highlighted. That’s why, from now on, we’re going to be sending out communications once a week, so that all our partners can stay up to date about every new feature on the app.

And, we’re also adding some new features to make the Urban Company experience even more seamless for our partners. This includes adding a screen where partners can rate customers, generating an invoice for the purchase of credits, and adding a “Hired” button for web requests!

An event like this, where we came together with our partners, gave us all an opportunity to learn and bond with the people who make our journey possible. We loved each and every minute of it, and we appreciate everyone who took the time out to be there.

In fact, we were so thrilled by the turnout, that we’re soon going to make this a repeating event, across all the cities we’re present in. So, if you missed it this time, you can always catch us for the next edition!
