When using essential oils like tea tree oil, or lavender, there are certain precautions you should take:

  • Use essential oils only at night. Essential oils can make your skin photosensitive i.e. sensitive to light, and risk sun damage.
  • Like all essential oils, tea tree oil cannot be used directly on the skin because it might irritate the skin and has to be mixed with a carrier oil like coconut, almond or olive.
