It’s again that time of the year when you can hear Christmas jingles and see brightly lit streets and stores around you. New year and Christmas bring along new hopes and a wonderful environment where you get together with your family, friends and loved ones. This season also calls for house parties where it’s always rewarding to spread out some home cooked goodies and drinks for your guests.

Hence, this year we bring a twist to the drinks section and bring to you 5 super easy and undeniably delicious chocolate drinks to warm your soul and lighten your party!!  Read on.

 

1. Slow cooker hot chocolate

This chocolaty recipe is sure to brighten up your grey winters. Perfect for a house party or a small gathering. Your guests will be left asking for more!

 

Let’s look at how simple the entire recipe is.

 

Ingredients:

  1. 4 tins of full fat coconut milk
  2. 2 cans of sweetened condensed milk
  3. 226 grams of high-quality dark chocolate, chopped
  4. 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  5. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  6. 2 teaspoons coconut extract
  7. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  8. 1/2 cup unsweetened flaked or shredded coconut
  9. frosting to rim the mugs
  10. whipped cream

 

 Method:

In your low bottom saucepan, add coconut milk, condensed milk and rest of the ingredients and give them a good whisk. Just cover it up slightly and let the chocolate cook for about 1-2 hrs. on a low flame. Once you are done, use some frostings or glaze to cover the rim of your serving mug. Pour in the hot chocolate and garnish with shredded coconut.

 

2. Nutella hot chocolate

 

 

 

We don’t see a reason why Nutella should be left out of the hot chocolate mug! Anything with a spoon of Nutella is pure heaven! So, here we bring to you the Nutella hot chocolate recipe which we are sure is going to be an ultimate hit with your guests.

 

Ingredients:

  1. Nutella 2-3 tablespoon
  2. 4-5 cups of whole fat milk
  3. 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
  4. 2 tablespoons of sugar or honey

 

Method:

In a low bottom sauce pan, add all the ingredients and cook them on a slow flame until the milk thickens a bit.  You can serve this yummy Nutella milk with any of your desired toppings or enjoy it as it is.

 

 

3. Mint White Hot chocolate:

This is a sinfully yummy drink!  The name itself is so interesting and added to that the irresistible combination of mint and milk is so appealing that none of your guests will be able to deny this warm delightful cup of happiness. Let’s check the preparation.

 

Ingredients:

  1. 1 lit packet of whole fat milk
  2. White chocolate 2 whole bars
  3. ½ teaspoon Peppermint or mint extract
  4. A few drops of food coloring (optional)
  5. Marshmallows or white chocolate flakes for topping

 

Method:

Add all the ingredients like the milk, chocolate and the peppermint and cook on a slow flame. Add a few drops of food coloring and once the milk comes to a boil, take it off the pan and pour it in mugs of your choice and top it with your preferred garnishing.

 


4. The Red Velvet Hot Chocolate

 

 

Red velvet is all the rage these days. And why shouldn’t it be?  Red velvet cakes and cupcakes are insanely yum with a super foamy cream cheese filling and a dash of tanginess to it. They not only satiate your sweet tooth but also leave you craving for more. Well that is the reason why we have come up with this red velvet cake inspired hot chocolate recipe which is warm, tasty and sure to be a huge hit amongst your guests. This is a perfect drink for a winter party.

 

Ingredients:

  1. 1-liter whole fat milk
  2. 1/2 cup of chopped bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate (you can use chocolate chips as well)
  3. 1 – 1 ½ tsp red food coloring
  4. 1 tsp vanilla

 

for the whipped cream:

  1. 1/4 cup of heavy cream
  2. 1 powdered sugar
  3. 1/2 Tablespoon vanilla

Whip together the cream and the sugar until it forms soft peaks. Add the vanilla extract and beat again for some time.

 

Method:

Heat the milk and whisk in the chocolate and the food coloring. Add the vanilla extract and simmer for a minute or two. Top it up with the whipped cream and some chocolate flakes and enjoy!

 

Note: All the above recipes would serve 4-5 people. You can accordingly adjust the quantity to meet your requirements.
